I'm Dr. Ray Fabius. I've spent nearly 30 years in health care as a pediatrician, health plan corporate medical leader, large employer global medical leader, president of the largest supplier of workplace health solutions and as a strategist and CMO for one of the largest global data and informatics organizations. This career path has given me the chance to understand health care from the perspective of the provider, the payer, the purchaser, the supplier and now the data aggregator and analyst. I've written books, book chapters and numerous peer-reviewed articles. I’ve had the great fortunate to participate in cutting edge activities including the formative years of disease management, health informatics, eHealth, workplace health and population health. Perhaps I am best known for my creativity and entrepreneurialism. I have been involved in the building and successful sale of three companies – the latest being i-Trax (AMEX:DMX) which was purchased by Walgreens for 54 times EBITDA - the highest ratio of a medical services business in 2008. I'm a well-regarded as an entertaining presenter, having delivered several keynote addresses.
I have had the great fortune to contribute to NCQA standard development for the accreditation of health plans, preferred provider organizations, disease management companies, behavioral health organizations and credentialing verification organizations. I have a strong quality background having achieved green belt Six Sigma status while at GE. During the early days of eHealth I helped frame its Ethical Standards co-founding Health Internet Ethics that led to the URAC accreditation of health websites. For a few years I taught the Three Faces of Quality course for the American College of Physician Executives.
